The Cubs had been struggling, but so had Clay Hensley. Something had to give and it was Hesley who was hammered in a tough loss to a struggling team. He gave up ten runs on eleven hits and three walks with a strikeout in five innings and you wonder why he was left out there that long.
Marcus Giles provided the bulk of the offense with a three run homerun in the ninth inning. In all, the Padres picked up just seven hits and if it hadn’t been for that late homerun, this one would have been even worse.
This afternoon, Greg Maddux will take on his own team and the Padres will try to touch up a struggling Wade Miller. I like our chances in this one.
