Welcome to The Padre Post, my San Diego Padres weblog. I’ll be covering the San Diego Padres for the Baseball Historians network of websites. The Padres have had quite a run and while the Dodgers may have passed the Padres as far as potential goes in the NL West, the Padres should be right there with him. In addition to covering the 2007 Padres, I’ll also be going back and taking a look at the team’s past. My favorite player on the Padres right now is Jake Peavy so I’ll probably get a little more excited when I write about him.
The first order of business will be taking a look at the career of one the greatest Padres of all time, and that’s Tony Gwynn. Gwynn will be entering the Hall of Fame this year and for two decades, Gwynn was one of the best hitters in all of baseball. I couldn’t think of a more deserving first ballot Hall of Famer then Tony Gwynn.
